Today, the United States Bankruptcy Judge overseeing PTS’s Chapter 11 case approved a 15% reduction in the wages or our teamster employees. This reduction was approved for an 8 week period ending July 31st, and this is temporary in nature.

A U.S. bankruptcy court judge has approved Performance Transportation Services, Inc.’s (PTS) request for 15-percent wage cut, and Teamster leaders are weighing all options in order to fight the company’s move.

June 2, 2008: Performance Transportation Services (PTS) is the latest Teamster employer to ask a bankruptcy court to impose concessions on its workers, in this case 1,300 carhaulers.

The company will be in court within days to ask for a 15 percent wage cut.

Teamsters Call on PTS to Return to Multiemployer Talks

Teamster carhaul local unions will be holding strike votes this weekend after Performance Transportation Services, Inc. (PTS) filed 1113-E relief in bankruptcy court and requested 15 percent wage concessions.

PTS’ filing followed the company’s decision May 29 to withdraw from multiemployer contract talks that have been under way.

“PTS management’s actions during the late stages of talks are completely unacceptable and we are pursuing options in federal court to compel PTS to return to the multiemployer negotiations immediately,” said Fred Zuckerman, Teamsters Carhaul Division Director and lead negotiator. “We simply cannot allow PTS to walk away from negotiations at the 11th Hour — PTS is acting in bad faith by walking away now after several months of negotiations.”

Hundreds of thousands of Teamsters will get reports this month on the funding status of their pension fund.

These funding notices are required by the Pension Protection Act (PPA) of 2006 which went into effect on Jan. 1—and some of them will have scary news.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Barack Obama is slated to pick up the endorsement of the powerful Teamsters, the second major union endorsement for the Democratic front-runner in a week, union officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday. Obama will meet with Teamster President James P. Hoffa in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday. The endorsement is expected to come soon thereafter, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the planned formal announcement.

The Teamsters represent 1.4 million members.

Looks like a done deal

So apparently Allied has voted this in. The bidding should be done about the 3rd week of Feb. We will find out if the Union Jobs have been saved

Concessions for PTS Carhaulers Approved | Teamsters for a Democratic Union

December 19, 2007: The International Union pushed through 17.5% wage concessions for 1500 PTS Teamsters, by giving none of them the right to vote on the pay cut. Allied Teamsters voted by a 3-1 margin to approve the concessions, in balloting tallied today.
