Hansen & Adkins Needs UR HELP!

carhauler autotransporter

Hansen and Adkins drivers want Union cards now and the IBT will not help. For the past few months these drivers have been trying to get someone from the IBT to meet with them. It is estimated that they have a 90% yes vote to become Teamsters. The problem is that Zuckerman wont return their calls. They have called Ronnie Green, Fuzzy, and Zuckerman, but no call backs. One person at the IBT said that they were very busy with contract negotiations. I know of several influential people who have called and no response. Hansen has around 400+ drivers and they are sick of all the abuses they are going through and want a contract. So why would the IBT look the other way? Hmm! They want car hauling to go away, and that is a fact. They have tried to organize one company in car hauling in the last few years. That company was Blue Thunder and it was a waste of time and money, because the driver turn around was high and the company was broke. Get the word out, make calls to the IBT, so we can be 400 drivers stronger. First Hansen, then URS and Wagoneers! Then we would be what we once were! Thats what is lacking and the root to our problems. If we had the power to shut this country down, the IBT would give us, UPS like contracts.

I had heard a similar complaint, from a solid source….. concerning United Road’s efforts to sign onto the Teamster Carhaul contract. I was told Zuckerman refused those efforts too. I contacted my Business Agent, “make a deal Neal” and asked if he had heard of this refusal by Zuckerman to the United Road effort. He said he knew nothing about it. I then asked Jimmy Neal to ask Fred Zuckerman flat out if United Road had made any efforts to him or the IBT to sign up and join, and to then let me know the answer. I have not received any response from Jimmy Neal.

Weeks ago I asked Jimmy Neal in a written correspondence inquiring as to how many of Local 327’s proposals from the membership ever made it to the bargaining table or into proposals to be voted on. When he called me back to answer my written questions, he did not have any answers. He could not say if any proposals from our members were advanced into the proposed language changes which were voted on.

What our membership needs more than puffed out chests and big titles such as Carhaul Director, National negotiating Member or Chairman, Business Agent etc., is real action and accountability……..plain and simple!

A little less talk and a lot more action!

Since it seems so very clear our leaders won’t deliver these essentials, even though each election cycle they pledge and promise to do so………Rank and File Teamsters should organize for a concerted effort to change every leader who has failed the membership. Only then can we preserve and protect and improve our contracts and the rank and file members that make this labor union ……..The Teamsters!

    No

I have heard the same thing out here in southern cal. I talk to the URS and Harbor guys alot of them are ex union drivers who lost their jobs when PTS shut down and other laid off due to bad times. These poor guys are really suffering because they know what it’s like to work union. They worked for PMT and Hadley now they;re being abused by greedy companies like Harbor/ Hansen , Professinal, URS, Seland, Wagoneer. I see these poor guys running to their cars, jumping off their trucks burning rubber as they unload to get back to haul another load. The guys they work for just keep under bidding the freight in order to take it from PMT or Allied and when their drivers complain, Oh well…..Just hurry up and come back for another load. I hear those poor guys when I’m fueling or in some cases they load right next to us in National City or Mira Loma Ca. I don’t know what to tell them, The IBT is partly to blame, it seems they’re pleas for help have fallen on deaf ears or maybe they need a whipping boy now that Swift and Blue Thunder are gone. Oh well maybe the same will happen to Harbor/Hansen and URS you can only abuse your employees for so long and then they can go down in FLAMES just like “Swift” and Blue thunder, just a FLASH IN THE PAN…remember 70 percent of new cars are still hauled by the big 4 Allied, Cassens, Cooper and who URS??? Oh i’m just kidding

Well, Hate to say ‘BOHICA’ =b nd over here it comes again? The bad economy has forced JCT/PMT to make some tough decisions. They have proposed a “flat rate” take it or leave it deal to local 63 in California. They’re using the economic meltdown as a pretext to ask for a 20% pay reduction. It seems JCT is losing 2.7 million so far this year. hmmmmm. Maybe less volume means losing money to them but if I only work 2 days a week I’m also losing money too. Long story short they couldnt get the 3tier wages, and all the other goodies in the last contract. Now they;ve become creative just like Allied, reward bad management who create losses then ask for concessions. IT worked with Allied, The playing field is uneven right? Alllied asked for and received 17% As usual local 63 has rolled over and agreed with the “gipper” Randy Beggs VP JCT what a joke

  10. Chainsdraging Says:

After Felling the Reality of the Pay Cut, Allied Employees would never again agree to it. It won’t save you, It will just make you poor.

  11. Leasewayover Says:

Allied drivers will jump through any hoops to keep their jobs now.

Well here I go again….I’m leaving it all up to you guys at PMT to put a STOP TO THIS CRAZY MAN RANDY…first just take a good hard look at his track record..It’s all smoke and mirrors, juggling facts and using FEAR….wE all know the doom and gloom this economy is in. They keep reminding us about how much money they’re losing. But what exactly have they been doing to stop the bleeding? Nothing right….They cut the shop to bare bones..You owner operators pay your own damage and maintence costs not to mention fuel and 32 percent you give JCT. The company claims they lost 2.7 million last year and now 2.7 this year. You do the math, sure you’re making less jack this year, but look at the sales they’ve plummeted to record lows. The company has done nothing or even asked for suggestions to stop the bleeding. Now all of the sudden when christmas is around the corner and GM , Ford, Honda, and Toyota our principle accounts are slashing production. Randy or his side kick
Ensign Brian Waters post a bulletin announcing the work schedule for December knowing full well that Dec thru Jan 09 will be slashed. These clowns at PMT are pretty good. They just keep lying to us and expect us to give them a 20 percent or flat rate so they can just keep doing the same old BS and we suffer the consequences. I think it’s time for devil dogs to take this steroid megamaniac by the horns right about now. This guy has run the company in the ditch, he’s been a disaster as VP and now he wants to keep his BONU$ for 08 by pulling this flat rate. If he suceeds all of you are to blame. The facts are all there, just take the time to read what’s true and toss all of “gippers” fairy tales. He’s in no position to bargain right now. Mira Loma has always been JCT baby..We make alot of money for JCT but we move alot of cars..Productivity is low? Citarello insulted us when he said we lied to them when we failed to move the FORDS..how many Hadley PTS drivers has he hired since we took over??NONE…How about the awards the GM, Ford and Honda have raved about our outstanding performance…What about his claim the the owner operators don’t make money…how ridiculous is that?? I would bet that most if not all of you are at least breaking even?? and thats after you fork out 32 percent of your earnings..but that’s now enough…Be smart and make an intelligent decision men…We’ve worked too hard and had too many wage freezes just to keep our jobs in the past 10 yrs. The bottom line is this…Cooper wants for Christmas what Allied already has: 17 percent driver concessions. The contract that was rejected this summer is a testament to your resolve….The union is too complacent and management is not serious about resolving their losses. John Batty continues to do as he pleases, with Randy’s blessings. The night board should be slashed with the exception of dealers who accept at night. Most of the night board has been assembled by Randy just to circumvent the day line board. Most of their loads have been slowly taken from day to night. The reason they got rid of VPD? too expensive to run 2 companies doing the same thing..The big boy needs to be reeled in and maybe new work rules need to be put in place in order to deal with this dramatic downturn in sales..but let’s trim the fat first. Randy’s approach to this situation is like going to the dentist with a toothache and the dentist removing all your teeth instead of removing the bad one or giving you a root canal..Don’t buy his LIES, He can’t be believed …..

Very good post! I feel that you are correct in all that you say and yes the economy is bad. All these companies call anythings less than what they made the year before, a loss. JCT has picked up a lot of work in the past 6 months, and you cant tell me that they never listened to the all mighty Wall Street projections for the Auto Industry. I knew what was on it’s way months ago, and I don’t run a business. They took on work and bought trucks in a failing economy, and that’s not Teamsters making the every day decisions for Cooper. Tell them to stick it and honor the contract. I’m sick of this industry and the clowns on both sides of the fence. The Unions are just as bad and have lost sight of what we are all about.
