Ballots Scheduled to Be Mailed to Members July 10

Carhaul Local Union Leaders to Review Tentative Agreement on July 2

Leaders from local unions that represent carhaul members will meet July 2 in Detroit to review the tentative national agreement that was reached June 19.

If the local leaders endorse the three-year
tentative agreement, it will pave the way for carhaul
members to vote on whether to approve the agreement.
Ballots are tentatively scheduled to be mailed
to members on July 10.
“We are confident that local union leaders
will agree that this contract is a good contract,
especially given the very tough economic environment
facing the auto industry and country in
general,” said Fred Zuckerman, Teamsters Carhaul
Division Director and lead negotiator. “This
tentative agreement protects members’ job security
and maintains their benefits without additional
costs to members. It also protects wages. We have
addressed the members’ top concerns.”
More details about the tentative agreement
will be reported to members once the local union
leaders review it.
“Members will learn that this contract is
intended to grow the industry during this period
of decline,” Zuckerman said. “Our goal is to keep
our members’ jobs secure and get others back to
work and be in a position to increase Teamster
jobs even more when the economy turns around.
This contract lays the groundwork for a more
secure future for all our carhaul members in the
years to come.”
About 9,500 Teamster carhaulers are eligible to
vote on the agreement.
