No. 2 vehicle hauler will go out of business

DETROIT — The nation’s second-largest vehicle hauler says it will stop all operations and go out of business.

Decreasing volume and rising fuel prices had driven Performance Transportation Services Inc. into bankruptcy twice in the past 2½ years. Last week, a Teamsters union strike against the company dealt the final blow.

There was no immediate word today on which vehicle haulers would take over Performance Transportation contracts. Such decisions will likely be worked out in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Buffalo, N.Y., which is presiding over the case

Did that dirver get hurt or just embarrassed?

Pts drivers collectively with Teamsters and Burkle closed down a company that was not quite dead yet. The company may have had a chance. So I feel no sympathy for the American Pts drivers who cant follow their work.

3 chain: Pretty sick huh. Yeah it was all about Jeffy right to the end. The guy obviously loves himself. But, has a hard time with reality.

Leasewayover: If you’re a Leaseway Canada driver who’s pretty bitter who can blame you? But let’s be real. While you were driving that nicer newer equipment we in Lewiston were driving crap We had what?,20 or 20 2001s which were like gold to us. The rest were 95 or 96 tractors and only some were pulling newer 2001 trailers. The sad part was that it was bought during the Penske era. PTS hadn’t bought ANY new equipment AT ALL here in the US. NADA! The operating road cost was huge! Meanwhile mom n pop companies like Cassens and Cooper are driving around some pretty nice equipment. Why? For one they don’t have any stockholders to please. Sure Port Newark had trucks but they were being leased and that deal fell through too after bankruptcy number 1. If you see an animal thats been run over laying by the side of the road you kill it out of mercy and if you gave a monkey $5 and all he did was tear it up and piss on it would you reach into your pocket and give him another $5? Not me…

Homer 50 yeah he got slapped around abit , got his driver side broke out, and got a golden shower from big gulp cup and not pop. I also got news this morning that cooper was at are yard last night . They were looking at are facility rumor has that they want are business. Just crossing are fingers.

I have always strongly believed in the process of collective bargaining to protect wages and benefits. But in this case the process was not followed. The Teamsters did not bring the last offer from the company to the members for a vote. I dont like cuts but the members are the ones who should decide that.

3 chain who are you? Anyway I drove out there today and spoke with Cerone. He told me NO ONE has been there. So either they just drove around or weren’t there. Where did you get that info? So far the biggest problem seems to be equipment. I have heard that Cassens doesn’t have the trucks for Lordstown yet even though they’ve hired the drivers. I personally spoke with the labor guy from Cassens on the phone Monday and he said he wished he had a 100 trucks sitting by the fence right now but doesn’t. Shutdown is on the horizon. We’ll see….
