Car hauler may meet with union as strike continues

DETROIT — The Teamsters strike against one of North America’s largest vehicle haulers continued today, but the two sides could return to the bargaining table as early as Thursday, June 12.

Performance Transportation Services Inc. CEO Jeff Cornish sent a letter Tuesday, June 10, to the Teamsters offering to meet and requested they stop the strike before the meeting.

Performance Transportation is seeking an injunction to stop the strike. A hearing is scheduled Friday, June 13. Cornish said that might be too late. He pleaded with employees to return to work in a letter posted Monday on the company’s Web site.
